Who We Are

Centered on families. Driven by opportunity.

At LACOE’s Head Start and Early Learning Division, we lead one of California’s largest early education networks, supporting families from pregnancy through age five.

We partner with parents, caregivers, educators and community agencies to ensure every child has access to high-quality early learning and whole-family support.

At LACOE, we support children and families through every stage of early development – from prenatal care to preparing for kindergarten.

Early Head Start

Head Start begins with prenatal health education and parenting support for expectant families. From pregnancy through age three, we provide home-based as well as center-based development, screening and wraparound support designed to nurture both babies and caregivers.

Head Start Preschool

For children ages 3 to 5, Head Start Preschool provides school readiness through hands-on learning, social-emotional growth and the foundational skills children need for a confident start in kindergarten.

California State Preschool & General Child Care

These center-based programs offer both part-day and full-day options, combining education with health and family support services. Activities are tailored to young children’s development and needs.

Inclusive Early Childhood Education (IECE)

IECE expands access for children with moderate to severe disabilities in early learning settings. Through teacher coaching, facility improvements and tailored tools, we help create supportive environments for every child.
