On February 26, 2016, Norwalk-La Mirada USD (NLMUSD) Head Start commemorated its 50th year of providing vital early childhood education services to children of some of the area’s most disadvantaged families. “Our programs help families lift themselves out of poverty while offering their children a high-quality education,” said Laurel Parker, NLMUSD Head Start Director.

The anniversary celebration was held at the NLMUSD Ramona site and included artwork from the students and personal stories from Head Start alumni. Congratulations were sent by Dr. Blanca Enriquez, Office of Head Start Director, and dignitaries in attendance included LACOE and NLMUSD officials, as well as locally elected leaders from the State Senate, State Assembly, and County Board of Supervisors.
