A developmental screening takes a quick look at a child’s developmental progress, based on typical milestones. The Ages and Stages Questionnaires®, Third Edition (ASQ®-3) and the Ages and Stages Questionnaires®: Social-Emotional, Second Edition (ASQ®:SE-2), used by LACOE delegate agencies, have been researched and revised for decades and continue to yield accurate results, identifying areas of developmental strength and those in need of support.
The ASQ® is an excellent engagement tool for assessing all that parents and families know about their child’s development. The ASQ® also helps parents, teachers, and staff to anticipate upcoming developmental milestones and plan for them. The ASQ® looks at the following areas of development: language, physical abilities, play and problem solving, self-help, and social-emotional.
