Enlightening presentations have continued at the Policy Council remote Zoom meetings. Information on Immigration Rights and Resources, CLASS and DRDP results, and Lead Poisoning and Testing was shared and well received by the Policy Council members.
This has been a period of transition for the Policy Council. Following the resignation of Jennifer Cutlip to work at the Head Start and Early Learning Division, Cynthia Barboza was unanimously elected to serve as Policy Council Chairperson until a new Policy Council is seated in December. Thank you, Cynthia, for your continued leadership on the Policy Council. We all benefit from the wealth of experience you bring to the meetings.
A group of Policy Council parents participated in an Outreach All-Stars training in October to learn strategies on how best to recruit families for our Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Parents are essential advocates for our programs, and the HSEL division is committed to partnering with parents in support of our shared goals and objectives whenever opportunities arise.
Our delegate agencies were busy in October training and electing new Policy Committees. Representatives from those Policy Committees will become part of the new Policy Council and will receive training on their roles and responsibilities on November 30 and December 1.
On November 10, we recognized all our parent leaders and community representatives from the outgoing Policy Council and honored them for their dedication and commitment to the shared governance process.
